Step I Revision
a. Greeting.

Step II Presentation
a. Look and learn.
Show the picture to teach "doctor" and "nurse".
T: Look at this picture. This is a doctor. Doctor.
Ss: Doctor.
T: This isn't a doctor. This is a nurse. Nurse.
Ss: Nurse.
b. Look and learn.
Look at the picture and learn "What's the matter with ___? I / He cut (s) ____. It hurts.
T: What's the matter (with him)? He is sad. He cuts his knee. It hurts.
Explain the meaning of "cut" and "hurt" in Chinese if necessary.
Step III Practice
a. Read.
Lead the students to read the new words "matter, cut, hurt, doctor, nurse" several times.
b. Listen to the tape and repeat.
c. Drill.
Practice "I cut ____. ____ hurts".
T: What's the matter? I cut my knee.
Ss: I cut my knee.
T: My finger.
Ss: I cut my finger.
T: My finger hurts.
Ss: My finger hurts.
T: My elbow.
Ss: My elbow hurts.
Practice with other parts of the body in the same way.
d. Make up a dialogue in pairs
One pretends to be the doctor. The other pretends to have a pain in some parts.
Step IV Presentation
The teacher pretends to have a headache and teaches "I have ____ache."
T: What's matter with me?
Ss: Your head hurts.
T: Yes. My head hurts. I have a headache. Headache.
Ss: Headache.
Explain "My head hurts" means "I have a headache." And we can say other words with -ache, such as stomachache, toothache, earache, and so on.
Step V Practice
a. Listen and act.
Let several students come to the front and act as patients and other students will talk about them.
A sample dialogue:
S1: Look at Xiao Hong. What's the matter with her?
S2: She cuts her toe. She has a toeache.
b. Listen to the tape and answer the following questions.
1. What's the matter with Li Lin? (He has a headache.)
2. What's the matter with Wang Hong? (She has a stomachache.)
c. Listen to the tape and repeat.
Explain the meaning the uses of "have", "has", "okay", and "sick".
d. Make up a similar dialogue in pairs and act it out.
Step VI Safety Educating
1. Walk on the right.
2. Don't run on the stairs.
3. Don't eat unhealthy food.
4. Don't play with fire.
5. Don't do exercise shortly before and after the meal.
Step VII Homework
a. Finish the exercises in the activity book.
b. Make up dialogues in pairs.
c. Finish Exercise 2 in Lesson 24.
